Hi and welcome to the dippy hippy
experience at
dippyhippy 52 Hanbury Road, Bargoed. CF81 8QW
My dress making career began as a 4
year old with my grandmother, creating clothes for my Barbie and Tiny Tears
dolls. When my teens and the punk era arrived, my mum's sheets became the basis
for weird and wonderful, dipped and dyed, ripped and tied outfits. From there I
progressed to making my own wedding dress and eventually children's clothes.
Finding myself with time on my hands, with both my children in full time
education, I embarked on a BA (HONS) degree in fashion design at Newport
University, graduating in 2005. My love of vintage textiles combined with the
influence of my thrifty grandmother and her ways with cast-offs, was the basis
for the garments I produce today.
I successfully completed a Craft Angels teaching course at the Model House in Llantrisant in 2006.
In 2007 I started making jewellery,
teaching myself by trial and error and from books on jewellery making until a
family friend, who is a master goldsmith!, taught me the techniques I use
today, to give a professional finish to my unique one off and limited edition
pieces. I also offer a restringing and repair service for costume jewellery.
